ABOUT

Fame Cartel is the alternative rock project of Canadian multi-instrumentalist Eric “Dio” Diodati. When recording, Eric writes, records, performs, and produces all of the project’s music. Fame Cartel’s sound stems from a variety of rock and R n’ B influences. He also has a love of rap/hip-hop which helps inspire the deep rhythms and edgy drum arrangements.

Eric grew up in Niagara Falls, Canada. Music has always been a part of his life. As a child, he credits his parents for exposing him to bands like Audioslave, The Eagles  Earth, Wind and Fire (hyperlink) and “A LOT of Elton John”. As he got older, He also established a passion for rap/hip-hop acts such as Jay-Z, Eminem(Hyperlink) and The Notorious B.I.G.

MUSIC

Eric’s musical interest began to grow after receiving his first electric guitar. Diodati noted, “I remember opening the case to my first electric guitar which was a Sunburst Epiphone Les Paul. I remember spending hours learning Metallica melodies and pretending to play note for note with the music blaring. I was probably garbage…. sorry Mom and Dad”.

As Eric progressed, he became more and more infatuated with starting a band – so he did. He gathered together 3, long time high school friends and started a band called “The Keystones”. The Keystones played dozens of shows across the Niagara region and had quite the following in the area. He notes “playing with ‘The Stones’ taught Me everything I know about performing” and he credits his lead guitarist (Eric “Monty” Monteleone)  for teaching him the fundamentals of the guitar.

For several years, Eric has immersed himself in the world of music production and sound engineering which led him to creating his solo project under the alias “Fame Cartel”.  He describes his sound as a mix of blues rock with a modern electronic spin. Currently, Fame Cartel is in the process of producing their first self-titled EP, scheduled for Spring 2021.
